Our owner, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), has always taken a responsible approach to investing on behalf of its members.
While responsible investing is an evolving concept, with different interpretations that can be confusing, OTPP interprets it as follows:
• Searching the world for the best investment opportunities for a mature pension plan like OTPP
• Considering environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities that could affect overall corporate performance and have a material impact on investment value
OTPP believes profitable companies that are well run, respect the environment, and respect human and labour rights are good candidates for long-term investments. This is why OTPP is a signatory of UNPRI.
