7 top tips for interview success.
How to be a winning candidate with Camelot
1. Don’t be late. Ever.
Make sure you confirm the time of your interview and plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early. Traffic gets jammed and trains get delayed so be prepared to work around this if it happens. It's better to arrive early and sit waiting calmly than to be rushing and panicking until the last second. If you really can’t avoid being late, make sure you let the interviewer know as soon as possible.
2. Nerd it up.
Do your homework. Make sure you read up on the company and the role as much as possible before the interview. There is lots of information available to help you decide if this is the place for you. Read the blogs, watch the videos and look at the social media channels. It will help you understand our mission, our purpose and what it takes to have a successful career here.
3. Ask questions.
It's always good to ask questions in an interview so make the most of the opportunity when it arises. Have some questions prepared in advance and make sure you leave the interview with all the knowledge you need to make an informed decision. Asking questions shows that you are interested and that you are serious about the role.
4. Go pro.
Remember, it’s a professional interview - even in informal settings try to strike a balance between being engaging and being professional. You can still show your personality and be yourself, but be aware of your surroundings and remember that first impressions count.
5. Be brave.
Don’t be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat a question or explain something again if you didn’t fully understand it. The interviewer won’t mind and you need to set yourself up to give the strongest answer possible.
6. Show us you want it.
Don’t be afraid to say you want the job and why you want it. There’s nothing wrong with seeming keen and showing you are passionate about your career, especially if it can help set you apart from other candidates. There’s a time and a place to play it cool, a job interview is neither.
7. Show those pearly whites.
Smile and be yourself. We want to see the best of you and we’re all really friendly, we promise!
