8 AMAZING Camelot moments in September and October

As we reach the closing months of this year, things are ramping up. September and October have been a series of AMAZING moments around here at Camelot. You might have caught some of them on our social channels, here’s an epic round-up...

1. LEJOG Bike Ride Across Britain

We kicked off September with an incredible challenge to help celebrate 25 years of The National Lottery. A team of Camelot employees embarked on an AMAZING nine day cycling challenge across Britain seeing them cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats.

The ride itself was epic, brutal and totally unforgettable. From getting sunburn in Devon, to being constantly drenched throughout Wales, to literally being blown off their bikes by gales in the Scottish Highlands, #TEAMCAMELOT experienced all that Britain has to offer on the trip.

Along the way, they saw how The National Lottery is playing a crucial role in life for Good Causes and Retailers the length of the nation. They also raised nearly £14,000 to a number of very worthy charities.

2. Learning Week

We ran our second Learning Week for the year. This is a whole week we planned with 45 learning sessions. Full of variety, designed to help inspire continuous learning and giving our people the opportunity to learn something new.

From practicing drawing techniques, the psychology of feedback, building your online brand to meeting Stephen Mulhern whilst learning about bring our lottery results to ITV and being aware of your unconscious bias. There was something for everyone!

3. National Inclusion Week

National Inclusion Week (23rd-29th September) is a week for us all to recognise, be aware and make a difference when it comes to building a diverse and inclusive environment at work. We are passionate about Camelot being a place where you can be you and this was an important week for us to acknowledge.

4. World Mental Health Day

We developed a team of Mental Health First Aiders to help actively promote better mental health at Camelot. Everyone should be able to bring the best versions of themselves to work and live the life they want to live.

To celebrate World Mental Health Day (October 10th) and as an introduction to the business, our Mental Health First Aiders did a desk drop across all of our office locations with some important tips on how you can look after yourself.

5. We launched the Camelot PLAYBOOK

We launched the Camelot Playbook! A brilliant guide that incorporates strategies and play to help everyone at Camelot be their best.

6. RECORD BREAKING EuroMillions Winner

On the 8th October, a UK player was the lucky owner of the winning £170M EuroMillions ticket. This marks the BIGGEST EVER WIN!

7. Cyber Security Awareness Month

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. Our Information Security team ran a series of fun activities throughout the month, including codebreaker competitions, and escape rooms. This has been really great to raise awareness on such important topics, as well as helping everyone understand their responsibilities for protecting Camelot, themselves and family online at work and home.

8. A fun visit from Watford Mencap

We have built a really close relationship with Watford Mencap, a charity close to all of our hearts. Our Customer Operations team invited some of the Watford Mencap residents to our Watford HQ. They had lunch in our restaurant, an exclusive tour of our winners' lounge, took part in a mock lottery draw and then on to our games area where they played pool, table tennis, table football, and pinball. They left with smiles on their faces and arms full of special prizes.

What an incredible few months around here, and we can only continue to be more excited. November is the month we are celebrating 25 years of The National Lottery and we have already kicked off the celebrations.
