What’s your Camelot story?

I’ve been working in Recruitment since 2013 and have worked both agency side and in-house. 3 years ago I was headhunted by my now boss. I was flattered to be considered and was hooked as soon as he told me more about the role. Two interviews later and after meeting a number of people from the HR team, my gut was telling me this was the right opportunity for me. I was over the moon when they offered me the role and the rest is history!

What does your current role entail?

I work with a number of departments across Camelot - from our Customer Operations team to Marketing and Finance. I partner with the business to find amazing people to work for a company that does life-changing work. I look after the full recruitment cycle from an initial briefing of a role with a hiring manager to offering somebody their dream job. I also get the opportunity to work on exciting HR projects too.

What skills help you succeed in this role?

Being a people person is a must for this role. I love speaking to people, finding out what makes them tick and what their career aspirations are. Also, you can’t take things too personally - you can find the perfect candidate on paper, however, they might not feel this is the right opportunity for them - it can be tough at times, especially when you’re at offer stage but it’s got to be right for both the business and the candidate.

What’s the best part of your job?

Offering candidates their dream job. It doesn’t get old and the cherry on top is when you see them develop and progress in the business - I feel like a proud Mum!

What’s the most exciting thing about working at Camelot?

Knowing that through our games we raise on average £30 million a week for Good Causes. Everybody at Camelot is also given two days a year to give back and volunteer for our Good Causes projects. So far, I’ve volunteered with The Princes Trust, Mencap, Watford Peace Hospice & helped out in the run-up to the Rio Olympics.

What has been your Camelot highlight?

Recruiting our Social Engagement Team, it was a brand new team so I was recruiting from scratch. There were a fair few late nights prepping for the assessment centres and speaking to candidates around their shift work, but I felt really proud when we finally got the team in place and it’s great seeing them do such a great job a year down the line.

If you didn’t work at Camelot, what would be your dream job?

There are two things I love in life; a nice glass of wine and animals. So I would love to open a nice Vineyard in Italy (my favourite country) that’s also a farm with lots of goats and cats (my two favourite animals).

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work I love going to music events, you could say my taste would imply I’m older than my years. A few of my favourite shows have been Fleetwood Mac, Elton John & George Michael, but then Drake was pretty good too!

I also bought my first home last year and I am now obsessed with everything home related, who would have thought choosing a toilet brush could be such a hard decision?

Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I have a massive fear of flying which isn’t great when you love holidays as much as I do. On a whim, I decided to book a charity tandem skydive for the British Heart Foundation. I was terrified to the point where they weren’t sure I’d jump so ended up making me go first. On the way down I fainted mid-air and was in and out of consciousness. It’s safe to say I’ll stick to fun-runs in the future.
