In two sentences, can you describe your role as a Winners’ Advisor?

We support and guide high-tier winners throughout their life changing moment. From the very first “Congratulations” call to any advice that might be needed later down the line. Coming into wealth overnight can be very daunting so we adapt the support required based on the individual needs of the winner.

On average, how many winners do you meet a week?

I would say around 4-5 is a ‘normal’ week for me. However, I have seen 3 in a day when it’s been busy!

Where do you meet the winners?

It’s a choice the winner can make. We mainly visit them in their home or they can come to our Watford or Liverpool offices where we have a Winners’ Lounge kitted out to make our winners feel relaxed and welcome.

How big are the prizes of the winners that you meet?

The biggest winner I have met (so far!) was Ade Goodchild who scooped £71 Million which was mind blowing! I mostly see £1 Million winners however, we see anyone who wins £50,000 upwards.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

Being part of such a magical moment in a winner’s life - it’s a real privilege. Working with the public, you never know who you are going to meet. The stories our winners share with us never fail to blow us away. You think you’ve heard it all and then you hear another story of unbelievable luck or something that truly warms the heart. The difference a win can make to someone’s life never fails to amaze me.

What are your challenges?

The fact I can’t tell you about some of the amazing people I meet and the stories that follow them! I’ve had people hug me, cry, jump around with excitement, sit there in a state of shock and one that literally ran around the Winners’ Lounge in Watford screaming after I confirmed her win! But, as winner anonymity is a crucial part of my role, that’s as much as I can tell you...sorry.

What do you do to wind down at home, especially after a work day focussed on helping someone claim a big win?

I normally find a run or a glass of wine helps! I’m actually really glad you’ve asked me this question as it would be easy to think that we rock up, do a bit of paperwork, hand over some champagne and leave. Whilst we do all those things, that is really the easy part; our duty of care to winners is of key importance and we ensure advice and support is tailored for every winner, staying in touch with them for as long as they wish.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve seen someone do with their winnings?

Lots of winners feel so privileged to now be in a position to be able to help their family. I had one winner who was able to support their family member who has a disability by paying for their house to be adapted allowing them a better quality of life - how amazing is that?
